Elaine Bay Holiday accommodation offers you a fully self contained 2 bedroom unit situated on the hillside above the bay. One bedroom has a queen sized bed, the other a set of bunks and the lounge has a fold out double bed if needed. Linen provided. Full kitchen facilities with fridge/freezer, microwave & the outside seating area has a barbeque.
Elaine Bay is an hours drive turning off the Nelson - Blenheim highway at Rai Valley. It is the gate way into the outer sounds. You can launch your boat to explore & fish in the area, walk the tracks around the bay and into Tennyson Inlet or drive further onto French Pass or the Bulwer area. Stunning views and impressive sun rises can be seen from Elaine Bay & the near by tracks which are suitable for mountain bikes too. The unit is a minutes walk from the beach and there’s suitable parking for your boat.
As the unit is at the end of the road it is very quiet & peaceful. The gardens are often visited by the resident weka family who like to see what is happening & whether there is anything suitable to eat.
Piwakawaka Track - this starts at the other side of Elaine Bay and is a nice easy walk through native bush to Browns Bay. Return trip takes about an hour and a half.
Archer Track- starts right outside the unit. An easy 2½ to 3½ hour walk (depending on your fitness) takes you round to the Penzance (in Tennyson Inlet). You will have stunning views as you go either out towards Cook Strait or up into Tennyson Inlet. Deep Bay is about ½ way and the track is good for most mountain bikers. The section from Deep Bay to Penzance has native forest with Nikau palms but is technically more difficult for the bikers.
