The Nikaus is a sheep and beef farm with house pets, pet pigs, peacocks, turkeys and hens. Homestead accommodation, a central place to stay to look at and explore the central Sounds. Dinner, Bed and Breakfast can be provided with a cut lunch to enable you to explore to your heart’s content. Various walks and water taxi services are available.The Nikaus sheep and cattle farm is situated in Waitaria Bay, Kenepuru Sound, 2 hours drive from Blenheim or Picton. We offer friendly personal service in our comfortable spacious home. Our large garden which is listed in NZ Gardens Trust, contains rhododendrons, roses, camellias, lilies and perennials with big sloping lawns and views out to sea, has been in the Hunters Garden Marlborough Sounds tour for a number of years. We have house pets, Minny, (Jack Russel cross) Honey (Lab) and 4 ginger cats. Other animals include sheep and cattle, donkeys, horses, pet wild pigs (Grunter and Piglet), turkeys, peacocks and hens. We can provide country style meals from home-grown produce out of our own garden with home made bread, jams and pickles, with tea, coffee and biscuits available for you to help yourself . If you stay for more than one night we can provide you with a cut lunch to take with you while you explore the area. Our property is ideally situated to be a base from which to explore the central Sounds. There is a country golf course a short drive away with various walks in the immediate area or around the farm as well as longer walks such as climbing Mt Stokes or walking parts of the Queen Charlotte walkway. There are some interesting drives to beautiful beaches like Titirangi. There are operators to provide water taxi services or fishing trips if you so desire. Should you be interested in the history of the area we can provide information on this also. We have 2 mountain bikes and 2 kayaks for hire if you should choose to explore the surroundings this way.
