There is a lot to do and see in Marlborough

There are many reasons for visiting our exciting and wonderful region.

Catch of the DayThe Marlborough Sounds has long been associated with great fishing and boating. You can try for the trophy Groper (Hapuka) or Snapper, or just have fun with the children catching Spotties off the beach or a jetty. Gather cockles and oysters off a beach. Have a picnic, BBQ the fish as the sun goes down and sit back to relax.

Cruise outfor a relaxing dayThere’s nothing quite like being on a boat on a beautiful day. Cruise the Sounds in your own boat, charter one, or take advantage of one of the many water activities, cruises and tours on offer. You just might see the dolphins and seals frolic around your boat. Dust off the old family dinghy and teach the children how to row. Swim, play, relax and enjoy.

Walking a track in the Matrlborough SoundsThere’s a choice of walks: Mt Stokes, Queen Charlotte Track, and Nydia Bay tracks. Stunning views of the Sounds can be had from all of them. Many places have short local walks on private land, and the Department of Conservation have numerous Reserves and Bird Sanctuaries throughout the region. Native trees, ferns, mosses and lichens are plentiful. On the land, coast and sea you will see vast quantities of native birds.

Golfing with a 2 million dollar viewAt Nopera we boast of the only golf course within the Sounds, it’s situated on a working farm which makes it quite a challenge to play. Alongside this is the Nopera airfield, and just across the bay are the remains of the HMS Amokura.

Marlborough is known for its food and wines, and can’t be missed. A large variety of crafts shops and galleries are numerous all through the area.

We’re sure you will all find something to see and do.
